Through studying at Arts University Bournemouth over the past three years I have developed my skills enough to enter the professional world of model making. I have always imagined myself working on film set creating creatures and other oddities and since honing my skills as a model maker it has confirmed my want to work in the film and tv industry. It's quite difficult coming out of education and straight into a full time job which is why I have created a plan. I have goals I want to meet but there are a few things that may hold me back like money, travel, and housing.
Usually at the end of every year on my university course there is an event for 3rd year graduates called New Blades, where we are allowed to showcase our final years work in front of friends, family and potential recruiters. Last year due to Covid-19 it was an online event and so only a handful of people got job opportunities. This year we all need to be more prepared for what is to come in case of last year repeating itself.
I have formulated a three month short term plan with a final goal of finding a job ready for after graduating. I need to be on top of my work and my goals in order to achieve this as this is my ideal plan of action. I need to be able to graduate with quality models that I am proud of so that they will be able to boost my portfolios standard and then gain industry contacts ready for finding a potential job. Below is a chart that I made fully describing how I will achieve these goals in three months.

By completing these smaller although difficult tasks/goals it will help me achieve my overall goal of working in the film and tv industry. Even if I don't get my ideal job first time round, the work experience I will gain will be imperative to support my dream and get me to where I want to go.
If I am unlucky in finding a job in this industry immediately after graduation, I do have a backup plan in store:
Stay in Bournemouth
Work full time with my current job
Make models and creations in my spare time to improve my portfolio
Continue search for industry job
Seek more work from external brief provider Elusion Rooms (as discussed with them previously)
Gain enough money to move to when I find a job
I am unsure how long this would take but to earn a reasonable amount of money and taking into account a tenancy agreement, it would seem sensible for this to take a year minimum.

As a maker and creator of many things I am constantly learning and evolving my skills. I want to improve everything I do and make which can only ever help me move forward in life.
I have created a smart goal table where I have described exactly how and why I want to improve my skills in sculpting. Sculpting is my biggest passion and I rarely find myself bored when I have clay in my hands. I find that this is almost like my life's goal, something that doesn't end because I only want to keep getting better and better.
I need various plans and back up plans in case anything goes wrong or something like Covid-19 happens again and so having this smart goal of improving my sculpting skills will always keep me focused and head strong on my dream of working within the film and tv industry.
