To kick off this blog properly I am going to reveal to you all what my new and extremely exciting project is! The External Brief, it’s called this for the main reason being I had to search for a company within the creative industry who would take me in and let me create a model for them. Me being me I had to find the most exciting and extra ordinary company that could both help me gain more experience in the wider world, working with clients and help me develop my skills further in the industry I love.
Starting a little late into the summer looking for potential clients I came up with a long list of companies ranging from theme parks to artsy cafes, my main focus however was on escape rooms. Having been and completed a few already I knew the amount of skill and effort that goes into making one of these rooms come to life; filled with interesting props, special fx and wacky gripping storylines I just hoped that I could be a part of that someday. After whipping up an email loaded with my portfolio and pleas for a project, I nervously hit the send button and waited for the replies, less than a day after I got a reply and the rest soon followed. Receiving emails from all these professional companies got me really overwhelmed and even more excited, I quickly got back to them eager to find out what opportunities they had to offer me and me in return.
From a final choice of three I chose to settle for a company called Elusion Rooms. Based in Southampton’s city centre it is one of the top-rated adventure escape rooms, focused on giving their customers an amazing experience with incredible immersive puzzle adventures which the whole family can enjoy. Having seen first-hand what their rooms look like I can only say one thing… WOW.
Finally, the big reveal, for my brief with Elusion Rooms I will be making three uniquely designed goblins for their new and upcoming dark fairy-tale themed escape room. I will be researching deep into the depths of ancient mythology, materials, and culture to develop my knowledge and prepare myself for the stages of design, making and finishing! I am so excited to get this project moving and show you all and elusion rooms how in the end all my hard work will have paid off.
